Tangible, impactful, achievable: a must-attend event for housing advocates

The remainder of 2024 is critical for housing policy, with significant political activity shaping the landscape. With election season intensifying, and the potential for shifts in power in the White House and Congress, housing issues are at the forefront of legislative and regulatory debates.

Looking ahead to 2025 and the future of housing policies, the National Housing Conference (NHC) invites you to join affordable housing leaders from across the country at our Solutions for Affordable Housing convening on December 4, at the National Press Club. For housers, this is a must-attend event. Regardless of the election outcome, rising housing costs will continue to drive inflation, leaving families struggling to stay afloat and, in too many cases, to keep a roof over their heads. This year’s convening will spotlight tangible, impactful, and achievable actions to address the nation’s most critical housing policy challenges.

We are excited to welcome Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) as a keynote speaker to address housing affordability and the potential for bipartisan solutions in Congress. Alongside Congresswoman Dingell, affordable housing experts and industry leaders will help attendees build a deeper understanding of key national housing issues and the interplay between federal, state, and local policies that shape them.

NHC’s Solutions for Affordable Housing conference is a hybrid convening that serves as a platform for fostering connections among a diverse range of affordable housing stakeholders, encompassing officials from municipal bodies, charitable foundations, nonprofit organizations, real estate developers, lenders, and beyond. This year’s sessions include discussions on timely topics such as the housing insurance crisis, preserving generational wealth, addressing homelessness as a health issue, as well as:

  • Shaping the Future: A National Housing Agenda in a New Political Landscape with Sarah Brundage, President/CEO of the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders, Laura Arce, Senior Vice President for Economic Initiatives at UnidosUS; and Rodney Harrell, PhD, Vice President of Family, Home and Community at AARP.
  • Heirs’ Property and the Preservation of Generational Wealth with Abigail Suarez, Head of Neighborhood Development, Office of Corporate Responsibility at JPMorganChase; Thomas Mitchell, Director of the Initiative on Land, Housing & Property Rights at Boston College of Law; Maria Evans, Vice President for Community Impact at Fannie Mae; and Natasha Moodie, Research Associate at the Housing Assistance Council.
  • Regulating Rent and the Impact on Renters and Landlords with Sharon Wilson Geno, President of the National Multifamily Housing Council; Sarah Saadian, Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Field Organizing at the National Low Income Housing Coalition; and Ali Solis, NHC’s Chair and Managing Principal of Solis Strategic Solutions.
  • The Case for Updates: Modernizing Federal Housing Programs with Stockton Williams, Executive Director of the National Council of State Housing Agencies; Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity; Kris Cook, Chief Executive Officer at the National Affordable Housing Management Association; and Michael Novogradac, Managing Partner at  Novogradac & Company LLP.

Seating is limited, and NHC members can take advantage of discounted ticket rates. As a special benefit, all new NHC members who join for 2025 at the Basic level or higher, as well as current members who renew their 2025 membership by October 31, will receive two complimentary virtual tickets to our 2024 Solutions for Affordable Housing convening. The push for tangible, impactful, and achievable solutions is gaining momentum across political lines and within communities. As we gear up for the remainder of 2024 and 2025, this is a pivotal moment for housing policy and housers should not miss this important event to address today’s most critical housing challenges.
