Employer-assisted housing in Wisconsin

by Clare Duncan, National Housing Conference

Yesterday, I participated in the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority’s (WHEDA) Multifamily Housing Conference in Madison, WI. The one-day conference included a number of in-depth sessions for developers, syndicators and property managers focused on issues ranging from tax credit trends, green communities, resident relations and risk assessments as well as a keynote address by Dr. J.P. Pawliw-Fry, the President and Co-founder of the Institute for Health and Human Potential.

I spoke on the Workforce Housing panel along with Samantha DeKoven with the Metropolitan Planning Council, Joe Alexander of the Alexander Company, Ted Madkom with Gorman and Company and Dwight Morgan with Aurora Health Care. I provided the national perspective for employer-assisted housing (EAH), a housing benefit that employers can implement to benefit their recruitment, retention, productivity and morale in the workplace, by highlighting a number of successful EAH programs across the country.
