Biography:
Britt Van joined NHC as its Senior Policy Director in January 2025. Most recently, she served as Senior Advisor to the President of the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae) within the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Biden-Harris administration from April 2023 until January 2025. In that capacity, she served as the senior-most political appointee for policy under the President, helping support Ginnie Mae’s more than $2.6 trillion dollar mortgage-backed securities (MBS) program.
Ms. Van previously served as the Policy Director for the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) in the U.S. House of Representatives, helping develop and drive the policy priorities and strategy of the ~100 Member Coalition under three consecutive Chairs, Reps. Suzan DelBene (WA-01), Derek Kilmer (WA-06), and Jim Himes (CT-04). In that capacity, she led a broad issue portfolio spanning economic development and opportunity, housing, infrastructure, financial services, workforce innovation, tax, trade, climate change, and more. Prior to joining the NDC in 2017, Britt worked at a D.C.-based foreign relations non-profit, on the 2012 reelection campaign for Rep. Himes, and in corporate banking in New York City.
Britt holds a B.A. from Colorado College (2011) where she majored in Sociology and minored in Asian Studies. She spent time living and studying in Mongolia for a semester abroad and later returned to conduct independent research for her senior thesis.
