Sarah Bloom Raskin is an outstanding choice to be the Federal Reserve Board of Governors’ Vice Chair for Supervision. She is eminently qualified for this critically important role, having served in two key positions during the recovery from the 2008 financial crisis.
I served with Ms. Raskin at the Treasury Department during her time as Deputy Secretary. During that time, she brought a refreshing commitment to the needs of underserved communities to the Treasury while balancing it with the requirements of well-functioning markets.
I expect her to bring that balance to the Fed. If confirmed, she will have an opportunity to ensure that our financial system remains healthy and strong as we emerge from the pandemic and financial institutions have to navigate the risk of rising interest rates necessary to get inflation under control. She is the right person to balance the health of Wall Street with that of Main Street.
