WASHINGTON, D.C., September 30, 2026 – The National Housing Conference (NHC) applauds the release of critical federal funding for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) before it was set to expire. The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the awards under the FY 2025 CDFI and Native American CDFI Assistance Programs.
“CDFIs are where capital and community come together,” said NHC President and CEO David M. Dworkin. “They turn federal dollars into homes, jobs, and opportunity, reaching communities that traditional financial institutions often cannot. We thank Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and CDFI Fund Director Chris Miller for ensuring these critical funds were distributed before they expired. We also want to acknowledge the leadership of Senators Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Representatives Young Kim (R-Calif.), Steve Womack (R-Ark.), Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Bill Foster (D-Ill.), and Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), among others.”
NHC looks forward to seeing these investments put to work and the lasting impact they will have in communities across the country.
