“Matt Jones brings a wealth of housing experience and a deep commitment to affordable homeownership. His background in the mortgage industry and knowledge of housing policy has prepared him well for this role.
In the years that I have known Matt, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to expanding access to affordable housing and ensuring that gains in homeownership are sustainable for the long term.
I also want to recognize Joe Gormley for his leadership while serving in an acting capacity to carry out the duties of the Assistant Secretary for Housing. We are grateful for his ongoing service as acting FHA commissioner and are pleased to have his continued leadership as president of Ginnie Mae.
We encourage the Senate to act as expeditiously as possible to confirm Matt as Commissioner. NHC is looking forward to working with Matt to expand access to affordable housing, support sustainable homeownership, and strengthen our nation’s housing finance system.”
