SUMMARY:Solutions for Affordable Housing
DESCRIPTION:Solutions for Affordable Housing\, NHC’s 2017 national housing policy convening\, provided an opportunity to explore the federal housing policy landscape under a new administration and Congress. In a variety of issue areas\, attendees explored policy change that may be coming\, either legislatively or through agency action. Sessions also examined how states and localities are responding to housing needs and how federal policy connects to those efforts. \nPlenary sessions with policymakers and senior administration officials addressed national policies that can ripple throughout the housing field\, like tax reform\, the federal budget and housing finance. Breakout sessions focused on issues with potential for positive change\, including emerging best practices for practitioners to expand and improve their affordable housing work. \n\nThis slideshow requires JavaScript. \n\n2017 Agenda\n\n\n\n\nDuty to Serve Rule implementation\n\n\nBuilding on initial successes in ending homelessness\n\n\nNew solutions for nonprofit rental housing\n\n\n\nModerator: Andrew Jakabovics\, Enterprise Community Partners\nModerator: Steve Berg\, National Alliance to End Homelessness\nModerator: Brett McLeod\, JPMorgan Chase\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPanelists:\nPanelists:\nPanelists:\n\n\nJim Gray\, FHFA\nJermine Bryon\, HUD\nCindy Holler\, CHoller Consulting\n\n\nDavid Leopold\, Freddie Mac\nMatthew Doherty\, USICH\nAnne McCulloch\, Housing Partnership Equity Trust\n\n\nMichael Hernandez\, Fannie Mae\nKathryn Monet\, National Coalition for Homeless Veterans\nDeidre Schmidt\, Common Bond Communities\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEconomic revival in challenged communities\n\n\nPutting money in the right pocket\n\n\nMinority homeownership\n\n\n\nModerator: Matt Josephs\, Local Initiatives Support Corporation\nModerator: Maya Brennan\, Urban Institute\nModerator: Ethan Handelman\, NHC\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPanelists:\nPanelists:\nPanelists:\n\n\nSarah Constant\, Mission First Housing\nFlora Arabo\, Enterprise Community Partners\nJames Carr\, Wayne State University\n\n\nJulia Gordon\, National Community Stabilization Trust\nKamillah Wood\, Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future\nLynn Fisher\, Mortgage Bankers Association\n\n\nJim King\, Fahe\nSarah Norman\, NeighborWorks® America\nDoug Ryan\, Prosperity Now\n\n\nNeal Rackleff\, HUD\n\nAgatha So\, UnidosUS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting the housing needs of older adults\n\n\nRental Assistance Demonstration\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nModerator: Anand Parekh\, Bipartisan Policy Center\nModerator: Brian Tracey\, Bank of America Merrill Lynch\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPanelists:\nPanelists:\n\n\nLinda Couch\, Leading Age\nJessie Cassella\, National Housing Law Project\n\n\nPriya Jayachandran\, Volunteers of America\nTom Davis\, HUD\n\n\nDana Wade\, HUD\nSteve PonTell\, National CORE\n\n\n\nStacy Spann\, Housing Opportunities Commission\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLuncheon plenary: Outlook for tax reform and affordable housing\n\n\nClosing plenary: Housing in disaster recovery\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nModerator: Kirsten Johnson-Obey\, NeighborWorks® America\nModerator: Jenn Fogel-Bublick\,\nCapitol Counsel\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPanelists:\nPanelists:\n\n\nSarah Edelman\, Center for American Progress\nSteve Ellis\, Taxpayers for Common Sense\n\n\nFran Mordi\, Mortgage Bankers Association\nMarion McFadden\, Enterprise Community Partners\n\n\nGarth Rieman\, National Council of State Housing Agencies\nDiane Yentel\, National Low Income Housing Coalition\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n2017 Sponsors\nNational Presenting Sponsor\n\n  \nPremier Sponsor\n\n  \nSelect Sponsor\n\n \n  \nHost\n \n  \nConvening Supporter\n \n  \n\nHealth and Housing Session Sponsor\n \n  \nCoffee Break Sponsor\n \n  \nFriend Sponsor
