SUMMARY:Proposed changes to FCC's Lifeline program and impacts on low-income households
DESCRIPTION:On Jan. 9\,  NHC and National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) jointly presented a webinar to explain FCC’s recent recommended changes to Lifeline and provide guidance on filing comments with the FCC. \nThe Lifeline program provides a discount for phone service for qualifying low-income consumers. Through a modernization  order in 2016 the program expanded this program to include broadband. The FCC’s “Bridging the Digital Divide for Low-Income Consumers” Fourth Report And Order\, Order On Reconsideration\, Memorandum Opinion And Order\, Notice Of Proposed Rulemaking\, And Notice Of Inquiry proposes significant changes to the Lifeline program.
