SUMMARY:Health and Housing Webinar: Creating positive outcomes during COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:Research has proven that housing plays a significant role in influencing health outcomes in communities across the U.S. With the continued health risk posed by COVID-19\, partnerships\, communication\, and coordination between health and housing service providers has never been more important to keep individuals healthy and stably housed. The National Housing Conference (NHC) examined the increasingly significant interplay between health and housing with experts from each sector. \nOn Wednesday\, Sept. 30\, 2020\, NHC welcomed Dr. Regina M. Benjamin\, who previously served as the 18th U.S. Surgeon General under the Obama administration\, to discuss solutions that would ensure all Americans reap the positive health benefits associated with safe housing during the pandemic. \nThis event also featured a conversation with leading health experts from partnerships we featured in our “Promising Health and Housing Collaborations” report that was funded by the Kresge Foundation. Speakers shared lessons learned from their partnerships and how they pivoted to address challenges during COVID-19. \nGenerous support from our members helps NHC provide important content like this. Previously\, she served as the 18th Surgeon General of the United States. As “America’s Doctor\,” she provided the public with the best scientific information available on how to improve their health and the health of the nation. Dr. Benjamin also oversaw the operational command of 6\,500 uniformed public health officers who serve in locations around the world to promote\, and protect the health of the American People.  \n\n\nDavid D.
